The numbers are in, 650hp and 650 lb-ft. the Z06 will be fast as hell (duh).
Dat curve

Nah, more like 300-350 at a 750 idle. Still tho.

The thing that impresses me about that is how compact of a power plant that it is. The 6.2L V8, exhaust manifolds, supercharger, and intercooler are all in that picture.

Autoblog quote - " According to Chevy, 457 pound-feet of torque is available at idle, while 96 percent of peak torque arrives by 2,800 rpm."

And yet, there were at least 4 comments talking about how the GT500 is better. :sigh: fucking FP.

On the flip side, the only thing that worries me about this engine is …. heat soak.
I wonder how many laps until the supercharger gets hot.

I mean, just look at it. Clearly, that 457 number is at slightly above 1000 rpm. It doesn't idle that high, why would it?

Opps, didn't even see it on the front page. But yea … front page problems.

I get what you're saying, but I'm just saying what Autoblog is saying GM is saying.
Get what I'm saying?

The P1 makes 903, just saying.

I get what your saying.

Just Saiyan?
![]() 06/06/2014 at 10:46 |

Here's why we didn't get a ZR1; A crazy powerful LT something or other would be easy to make, but it also wouldn't be enough. It would take technology the C7 platform isn't made for to get it to challenge the likes of the P1 and 918 on a racetrack.

Super Saiyan.

Aren't those sold out anyways? Also, you know, 1/10th the price.

I'm assuming thats why there are already reports of them starting on the C8 development and rumors of it being a hybrid.

Air to water intercooler make a difference:

Hey it's on the chart you provided and the chart is wrong.
Also why does the chart say the hybrid horsepower as opposed to the actual engine power.

Oh shit, so the intercooler is right in there and its plumped for water. Don't know how I didn't notice/know that, thanks.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 11:06 |

Because the chart is from GM, and they're being GM-y?
Actually I just googled it and the difference is DIN (europe) and SAE (u.s.) HP ratings. Apparently they are slightly different.
![]() 06/06/2014 at 11:14 |

Nah they are all correct except for the P1s but it isn't your chart so don't worry I don't hold you responsible, GM on the other hand, currently I'm 1,000,078 in a queue for customer complaints.

Knowing how GM tends to go power-crazy with the 'Vette, I wouldn't be surprised if it has an Alcubierre Drive.

but would it be worth it to make one with 750-ish to mess around with the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta?
![]() 06/16/2014 at 16:12 |

Long Answer: There's less than 100HP worth of difference between the F12 and the Z06. A pulley swap, some long tubes, and a tune would easily close that gap. GM knows this, which is why there isn't a 'Z06+' or performance package option above the base Z.
Short Answer: No, not really.

I suppose that's fair.
Just seems like it falls a little short of that factory Ferrari level.
Which is fine, it's probably a 1/4 the cost of the F12 maybe less. Don't get me wrong I'm a huge Corvette fan and love the specs on this Z06. I love that it's up on this list to begin with, those are some big boys on that list.
